2009 Run for Relief

2009 was another great year for the MCC Run for Relief.  There were 287 registrants which is quite positive given the sketchy weather.  There was some minor rain Friday night during registration but that couldn't dampen the excitement.  Friday was as busy as previous years.

The race on Saturday followed the same course as last year and will be consistent going forward.  It avoids conflicts with parking and is quite accurate.  There was a fear of rain but nothing more than early mist.  The mist softened some of the course markings but otherwise the temperature was perfect for the run.  Approximately 2/3 ran the 5K event with the remaining following the 2K route.

Timing this year was still manual although we improved the finish line and avoided the bottle neck from previous years.  We thank all of the volunteers who allowed a smooth race event.

We also thank our sponsors.  The sponsors cover the full cost of the race including the T-shirts.  Therefore all of the registration fees go completely to MCC.  We had a few sponsor changes this year but the generousity was excellent and they actually provided more than our costs which gave additional funds to MCC.  The 2009 sponsors included:

Mennonite Mutual Aid (MMA)
InTerra Credit Union
Zehr Construction
Amigo Centre
The Depot, MCC Thrift Shop
Erv's Vac Shop
Living Well Behavioral Health, Jonathan Neufeld, PhD
Springer Design

Additionally, awards were generously provided by Rachel's Bread and The Awards Factory.
